How did your love story begin?

We met on a phone service where you recorded a voice ad about yourself. Ads could be heard and responded to via each other’s voice mailbox. I wanted to be unique so mine was a singing ad. I was deluged with replies and was about to meet someone that is very religious. At the time I was an agnostic and told her that if she wanted to back out I would understand and she could say a prayer for me if she would like. She did and the next day Wendy’s (now my wife) first message came in.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

On our 2nd trip to the Myrtle Beach Safari (2 years after our first), Bubbles (the 9000-pound elephant) remembered Wendy. Upon seeing her Bubbles actually started to dance. When it was our turn to go up and greet Bubbles she planted a big kiss over Wendy’s entire face with her trunk. This was just after Bubbles drank a large sugary drink, so the kiss was very sticky. Wendy still enjoyed every second of it. No one else got a kiss from Bubbles that day.

What would you do with $20,000?

Next year we will be celebrating our 25th anniversary. We are now in our 70s. I try to make Wendy smile every day. When we visit Bubbles at the Myrtle Beach Safari, she smiles so much that her jaw seems to be sore for 2 weeks after. Even if we do not win the $20,000 a trip to see Bubbles is definitely on the agenda.
