We met through local live music—he’s a musician, and I’m a fan who found dancing relieved my chronic back pain from a spinal fusion surgery 10 years ago. After 18 months of friendship, he asked me to dinner. At the time, I was planning a fresh start out of state once my work contract ended in two months. But after that first night of dinner, everything changed. I never moved. By the time my contract wrapped up, Troy and I were inseparable.

Our freedom and our hearts are open when we share live music together. We have introduced each other to various genres of music- from Tower of Power to Need to Breathe. From meeting the members of We Are Messengers to Gary Clark Jr. To singing at the top of our lungs at a Brothers Osbourne concert, and dancing under the stars at an equestrian complex to The Mavericks. We have worshiped in San Diego to Third Day, The Lone Bellow in Aspen and George Clinton and The Funkadelics close to home.
