It was March 2021 and Covid was all the rage. We met on a dating app, of course! We decided via DM to meet in person for a walk on the beach. It was cold and drizzling in West Seattle, but we both agreed it would clear up soon and we’d take our chances. We planned to meet by the Statue of Liberty (the replica on Alki Beach) I heard a man ask “Kari?” I turned around and was caught off guard by how blue his eyes were. It felt indescribably electric. We walked and talked for three hours.
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?A few years ago, we went to his home town in Sweden. When we went to his family cabin, I felt very Ava Gabor from Green Acres. He taught me how to pump water from a well. He lovingly laughed at how proud I was when I returned with a (half) full bucket of freshly pumped water.
What would you do with $20,000?We would use it to remodel our kitchen and build a deck. Our current kitchen has an archaic stove with uneven burners and a sink so small, a serving plate needs to be rinsed with the hose out back. The original deck required a waiver and a tetanus shot so we tore it down. We want a new one that has a catio because we are cat parents and a sauna- because Sweden.
