We've survived a LOT, currently fighting inoperable cancer with enthusiasm. Married 26 years and still laughing. Pastor living with passion.
Help us share our love story in Variety, take home $20,000, and go on a triple date with Jeff & Emilie Goldblum and Charlie Day & Mary Elizabeth Ellis!
We met at Johnson Bible College (now Johnson University) in Knoxville, Tennessee. My roommate expressed some interest in Tommy's roommate, so one day, I used that as an opportunity to approach him and say, "Hey, I think my roommate likes your roommate. Why don't the four of us go ice skating sometime?" Best pickup line ever—it worked! We never went ice skating until after our engagement, 6 years later! We've spent the last 32 years together, 26 of those years married!
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple? We have a lot of favorite memories. Many would be common to most couples, like the day we were married, the birth of our children, etc. But serving in ministry beside my husband has created many of our favorite memories. I've gotten to see him change the world one person at a time. He is an expert on enthusiasm and the difference it creates when people make the decisions that lead to living with enthusiasm. Watching people embrace their "weird" and live with enthusiasm is life-changing.
What would you do with $20,000?My husband is currently battling an inoperable cancerous tumor. I didn't know it was even possible to fight with such enthusiasm. The battles I've seen him endure are not for the faint of heart. He is the strongest person I know. The $20,000 would go a long way towards helping with his medical expenses. We will soon start treatment at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in NYC.
