It all began when I was 11 and Tom was 14. Tom was friends with my older sister and came to our house often with her friends. I developed quite a crush on him. Tom took notice of me when I was 14, and we quickly were inseparable. I wasn't allowed to date until I was 16, so our dates consisted of his grandmother chaperoning us--like a scene out of The Godfather. This continued for two years, until I could double-date! We double-dated for nearly two years, until we were finally married!
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?There are so many memories after 61 years of marriage, but one of our favorite memories would be making a TV documentary on the Israeli/Palestinian-Arab conflict, titled "Change the Heart Change the World." Its content is based on interviews we did with experts on all sides of the issue as well as man-on-the-street interviews. We did these interviews during three trips to the Holy Land as well as state-side. One of our most memorable experiences in Israel was being baptized in the River Jordan!
What would you do with $20,000?We would probably make another trip to the Holy Land, which is one of our dreams, and definitely donate a portion to some of our favorite charities and ministries!
