How did your love story begin?

It began with a passing glance in a church cafeteria. He wore a scout uniform. I was a scouting mom. We were equally unavailable- a fateful moment, meaningless at the time, quickly forgotten. Fast forward: me- loving life as a single mom, him- a marriage newly over. A few dates into his new life he found me! There were those that tried to build walls against us. Despite other’s resentments, we held on, turned past obligations into a patient, fought-for love, and a beautiful, passionate adventure

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

His wedding proposal plans vanished when I ended up in an Austrian hospital bed. He stood by my side with endless patience, watching me endure a battery of tests. Once discharged, with minutes to spare: we went to the opera anyway! Afterward, we ended up at a restaurant, —him in a tuxedo, me in a red ball gown—devouring the best burgers and fries of my life. The proposal was postponed, but sitting there, I knew this was the adventure we were in for! Love, patient, agility, & a hunger for more.

What would you do with $20,000?

If we win the $20,000, we will fulfill our ultimate bucket list dream by returning to spectacular Austria. Healthy, glowing, and dressed once more in our tuxedo and red ball gown, we hope to toast to our future on a private balcony overlooking Vienna, where he will finally drop to one knee for the proposal he intended. We will use the remaining funds to launch an alpine adventure, celebrating our deep love and the beautiful, lifelong journey we are building together.
