Our love story began at youth group the night Tim pulled up in his yellow Mustang with his six-year-old sister beside him. I noticed him right away, but what drew me in was the way he cared for her. He was gentle, devoted, and tender in a way that felt rare. And Tim noticed something in me too: my zest for living, the joy I carried, how easily I laughed, and the lightness I brought into the room. Somewhere between his kind heart and my bright spirit, the first spark of us began.

One of our favorite memories is when we learned to dance together. For years, I tried to lead, but with the right teacher, Tim learned to lead with confidence, and I finally learned to follow. It felt transformational. One day on the flybridge of a boat, a Marc Anthony song came on, and Tim leaped up and asked me to dance. No audience, just us and the moment. Our son captured it in a photo, and it became a picture of our marriage: learning, trusting, laughing, and still choosing each other.

If blessed with $20,000, we would use it to help publish my memoir and carry its message to the people who need it most. Tim has stood beside me through the hard seasons, the tender healing, the becoming, and my journey of losing more than 150 pounds later in life. Together, we want to use this story to help others believe it is never too late to heal, begin again, and become who they were meant to be.
