How did your love story begin?

Louis and Shantrell met on a dating app called "BLK." Their first date was at Dave and Buster's on April 5, 2023. The night was filled with trash talking, and competitive ferver, mixed with good energy and an unspoken connectedness. Needless to say, Shantrell lost almost every game except one. After a successful first date, they kept in touch and decided to meet at Belmont Park (in San Diego) along the beach for a midday stroll. They talked for hours. Communication sealed their bond.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

While going to Montego Bay for OUR wedding, Frontier Airlines delayed our connecting flight and we almost closed our entire wedding. Fortunately, Louis went to speak with a representative that had an earlier connecting flight to Atlanta. As long as we were able to wait a little while for the connecting flight from Atlanta to Montego Bay, we could still make in time for our wedding. After all, everyone was there except us and we were traveling with three children. But it doesn’t end there.

What would you do with $20,000?

In 2024, Louis was blessed enough to save his maternal grandmothers home from foreclosure. However, after a flurry of financial obligations, the 101 year old home just sits, waiting for a much needed renovation. The goal is to pour some love into the Mississippi home and rent it out to a family in need. The money would go to a new roof, inside, and outside renovations. The cost to renovate the home is $30,000. $20,000 places us more than halfway to that goal. Louis and I want to honor legacy.
