How did your love story begin?

Our love story began long before we realized it. At 14, my wife was caught in a crowd outside Betty Shabazz's funeral in New York City. Seeing she was in danger, I helped get her to safety and sat talking with her afterward, never knowing she would one day become my wife. What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

Our favorite memory isn't one moment, it's rediscovering each other after nearly three decades. From our first conversations after reconnecting, it felt like we had never been apart. Building our life together in Delaware, blending our families, supporting each other's dreams, and creating new traditions has been incredible. Every day reminds us that the best things in life are worth waiting for and that love can find you when the timing is finally right. We talk about this daily.

What would you do with $20,000?

We would use the money to strengthen our family's future. As an art teacher and a workforce development specialist, helping others is central to who we are. We would pay down debt, build savings, and invest in opportunities for our children while creating experiences and memories together. A portion would also support community and youth-focused projects that reflect our shared commitment to education, creativity, and helping others reach their full potential.
