Connect How did your love story begin?

Our story began in Chicago, where I was in school, working at a restaurant, and Douglas was managing plumbing jobs nearby. He was navigating the end of a marriage, and what started as a friendship quickly became something much deeper. We found comfort, laughter, and unwavering support in each other. Before long, we moved in together, welcomed our first son, and headed to the suburbs, started building the life we'd always hoped for. Eighteen years later, we're still choosing each other every day.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

One of our favorite memories started with a spontaneous weekend in Louisville. We fell in love with the city over great food, bourbon, and live music. While waiting at the airport to fly home, we started browsing houses "just for fun." Before takeoff, we'd contacted a Realtor, scheduled a virtual tour, made an offer, and saw the house for the first time during the inspection. 3 years later, Louisville has become our second home, a reminder that our best adventures begin when we dream together.

What would you do with $20,000?

While a dream vacation sounds tempting, we'd invest the $20,000 in a home near our son's college. We've always believed in building for the future, and owning a home he could live in while renting rooms to friends would create opportunity for him while growing our family's investments. It's the kind of practical, long-term decision we've always made together. And don't worry, we will still head out on a nice vacation together too! Gotta always fit in the fun amidst the practical.
