We met doing classical theater. I knew when I shook Toby’s hand that he was someone special; he knew when he saw me on stage. For months, he invited me to dinners he cooked and desserts he baked, gathering fascinating people around his table. I always left feeling inspired. Then, on December 11, 2014, he said, “You’re the woman of my dreams. If you’re not ready, that’s okay. I’ll wait.” He never had to. We’ve been best friends, creative partners, and each other’s greatest adventure ever since.
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?Our favorite memory is our wedding day. We knew some of our guests felt awkward dancing, so we created an awkward dance contest to help everyone feel comfortable and have fun. What was supposed to last a few minutes turned into nearly an hour of hilarious moves, nonstop laughter, and even an awkward conga line. Watching everyone let go and be themselves was pure joy. It was wonderfully ridiculous, completely authentic, and a perfect reflection of who we are as a couple.
What would you do with $20,000?We’d divide the $20,000 into four meaningful investments. We’d use $5,000 to launch Curtain Call of Duty, a healing arts festival serving veterans, service members, and their families. We’d use $5,000 for a long-overdue honeymoon in Budapest after our 2020 plans were canceled by the pandemic. We’d invest $5,000 in our dream project, a reimagining of Antony and Cleopatra. The final $5,000 would go into savings to help build our future together.
