In 27 years we have endured military service, PTSD, suicide attempts, foreclosure, parents, jobs, bankruptcy- and love is all we ever needed
We would like to thank you for supporting The Owllettes in this year's competition. Your participation allows us to aid both the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and Oceana in their respective missions to support hunger relief and ocean conservation.
I was working for a non-profit organization of which Rob was a volunteer. He and I became friends, birding, trapping raptors and hiking together. I was promoted to Executive Director of the organization and he helped me move my belongings from Albuquerque to Salt Lake City. We spent a lot of time together exploring the outdoors. We traveled to Vermillion Cliffs to see the condors and down to Phoenix to see my family. As we were leaving my parents house my mother said "That is my son-in-law'
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple? We were living together as friends with benefits and had plans to go separate ways. Rob was to leave the Air Force and I was headed to a job in the northwest studying raptors. Rob was helping me shop for a truck to live in while working as biologist. We discovered we were pregnant. I was shocked - had been told I could never have kids. Rob he proposed. I said yes. We planned a wedding but that was canceled since Rob was shipped out to Kosovo 2 weeks later. We married at the courthouse.
What would you do with $20,000?I would take us on our honeymoon. We've always had kids in the house and we love our family and life has just been going 100 miles an hour ever since. The market was a mess when Rob retired in 2007, we lost our house, then our parents. My mom had breast cancer, my dad prostate cancer and we loved them all deeply. Rob is a special education teacher and I am a CASA advocate for foster kids, but we have 3 grown kids, two graduated college and one is a Junior. We are deeply blessed.
