He follows Christ, I follow Islam, in the end we chose each other. Our love became the bridge between our faiths. We welcome both prayers.
Help us share our love story in Variety, take home $20,000, and go on a triple date with Jeff & Emilie Goldblum and Charlie Day & Mary Elizabeth Ellis!
Our love took off in 2013 in JFK airport, between departure gates and delayed flights. The timing wasn’t right, so we landed in the friend zone instead. Years, prayers, and a few missed connections later, we chose each other anyway. I guess you can say love was always our final destination.
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple? Our first blended holiday. He fasted for the first time during Ramadan while we were planning Easter brunch with our children. At sunset we broke my fast together, his hands in prayer, and I knew from there we might have faiths, but we shared one table, zero doubt. We laughed about how God’s timing is better than JFK’s flight schedules. That night we knew our differences weren’t barriers, they were the bridge.
What would you do with $20,000?So many things but to list a few. We can finally start planning that dream wedding we prayed for. A down payment where we can raise and grow our blended family in love and faith. Pay off debt we’ve accumulated alone so we can build together. And book two tickets out of JFK — not as strangers this time, but as proof that love lands right on time when you choose it.
