Diagnosed with MSat month 1, but he never left my side. My legs may limit me on land, but together we scuba dive. Deep love knows no limits.
We would like to thank you for supporting The Mermaid and her Keeper in this year's competition. Your participation allows us to aid both the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and Oceana in their respective missions to support hunger relief and ocean conservation.
We met on Match.com, and just a month into dating I was diagnosed with MS. I called him in tears, afraid he’d disappear, not wanting to deal with it. Instead, twenty minutes later my doorbell rang. He’d run straight to me, wrapped me in his arms, and let me cry. Our love began in uncertainty, but his tenderness showed me exactly what forever feels like. He's been by my side ever since.
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple? We have so many memories, but my favorite is teaching Bruce to swim. After my MS diagnosis, swimming became essential for my body, and he wanted to share that world with me. I taught him little by little, and within a year we were both scuba certified. Now we travel and dive together, turning our journey into a way to raise awareness for MS.
What would you do with $20,000?With $20,000, I’d invest it back into something I founded that means everything to me: Diving Beyond MS. Scuba diving has supported me mentally and emotionally through MS, and it’s become my mission to share that same healing weightlessness with others living with this disease. This funding would help us expand access, build programs, and bring more people to the ocean to experience relief, freedom, and possibility.
