Sergio and I met in Virginia while I was transitioning out of the military and working as a server, and he was stationed there. We instantly clicked and spent nearly every day together for three months before he was transferred to California. Long distance only confirmed what we already knew, we were soulmates. Sergio showed me a love I’d never experienced: kind, patient, and uplifting. He helped me heal, and together we’ve built a family rooted in love and positivity.

Our favorite memory is when Sergio returned home from deployment and met our daughter, Sofia. He was gone for almost my entire pregnancy, and after months of counting down the days, he came home the day before I gave birth. We truly believe Sofia was waiting for her dad. Watching him hold her for the first time after all that time apart was one of the most emotional and beautiful moments of our lives.
