How did your love story begin?

I was working on the kitchen at a bar, living at Mom's after a recent breakup. my husband's father used to come in for lunch. He told us his son was coming up from Louisiana to live with him after going through rehab for a fresh start. His dad had had a crush on me which made it very awkward when I laid eyes on Alvin. It was love at first sight for both of us but we were both shy, we'd both been hurt and through things nobody should ever have to but we made it .

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

Our favorite memory is how we actually broke through the shy awkwardness of his dad having a crush on me. They were sitting at the bar one day and his dad(Rowdy) was hitting on another girl, Alvin didn't miss his chance when he saw it, I came out of the kitchen and he says I'm his Louisiana accent"what are you doing Joanna, you hiding?" I blushed but didn't miss a beat either, even though I was working I joined him playing pool. I went to the bathroom and his dad told him he thinks i like him

What would you do with $20,000?

I would put it towards our dream home... We live in a tiny 50 year old trailer that has leaks in the roof, soft spots in the floors, refrigerator that's on it's last legs, no washer dryer, broken couch. We live on love and we're more than fine with that. But I would be lying to say it wouldn't be nice to have a beautiful home where we could actually have our grandkids come for sleepovers and not be ashamed. We both work full time at Walmart overnights, but give all out extra money to our familys
