Connect How did your love story begin?

I was a single mom of a 6 month old and 3 year old when Eli “couch surfed” at our house (he was friends with my housemate) to compete in the Green River Narrows Race, one of the most extreme white water boating races in the world! It didn’t take long for me to fall head over heels for this 4 time world champion canoeist. I figured, if he can so easily navigate class v rapids (of life too), canoe over waterfalls, and reach his goals…this guy is for me!Now we navigate life’s rapids together💗

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

It’s hard to pick one. It’s probably one of the times we turned lemons into lemonade. I had developed multiple autoimmune diseases and Eli travelled for work. It was hard being apart so we decided to buy an old beater RV, home schooled the kids, and travelled across the country together visiting all the National Parks along the way. Those are some of my favorite memories💗

What would you do with $20,000?

Another instance where we turned lemons into lemonade…both my young adult kids and my mom were struggling to afford housing and rising healthcare costs. I had been in my home for over 20 years. We decided to borrow against the equity and built an addition in order to continue to provide a safe home for our family…so no one would end up on the street. We pull together when times get tough. We’d put the $20,000 towards our addition.
