How did your love story begin?

The story he tells is, during a high school rival basketball game in 1999, he attempted to shoot his shot with me and I turned him down. Later that summer we were introduced over the phone and became phone-pals. We talked for weeks before meeting in person. I still had no idea it was the same guy, not even when finally met in person. It didn’t matter because he had already won my heart. The way he made me laugh and feel so loved and free in my spirit was everything I didn’t even know I needed.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

We have so many! Everything we do becomes my favorite memory. But if I had to choose one, it would be our wedding day. Our story has had so many bumps, detours and losses but in that moment it was just about us celebrating our love and becoming husband and wife after 20 years of love and friendship. It was a very intimate wedding which made it even better. We cried, laughed and danced the entire day/night!!

What would you do with $20,000?

We would go on a dream honeymoon. When we got married we didn’t have the funds for a trip or anything else. So we went to bed at home and woke up the next morning for our son’s soccer game, like any other Saturday morning. I would love an opportunity to splurge on a trip for us. And whatever is left we would donate to our nonprofit organization.
