Connect How did your love story begin?

Our love story began at the University of Texas, where we both had track scholarships. The men’s and women’s teams rarely interacted, but at a track meet, an LSU athlete told Marquise he thought I was his sister because we looked alike. Marquise had me text him and immediately started asking about my father to make sure we weren’t actually related since his dad was a rolling stone. Thankfully, I knew who my father was! We kept talking, became friends, fell in love, and the rest is history.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

One of our favorite memories as a couple was the moment our daughter, Marae, was born. After experiencing two heartbreaking second trimester pregnancy losses, that day felt like a miracle. During my C section, my husband looked over the curtain and excitedly shouted, “It’s a girl!” Hearing those words after years of grief, prayers, and hope was overwhelming. In that moment, every tear and every struggle felt worth it. It is a memory we will treasure forever.

What would you do with $20,000?

If we won $20,000, we would donate the proceeds to The Goodwin Family Project and our Hopeful Heart Initiative. As parents who have experienced the heartbreak of pregnancy loss, we know the emotional and financial burden families face during their darkest moments. These funds would help cover burial, cremation, funeral expenses, and support services for families grieving the loss of a baby, allowing them to focus on healing rather than financial stress.
