How did your love story begin?

We had spoken a total of 15 words while working together at a burger joint when John got fired. He came back every night to help me & give me a ride home. Then 1 night he came in with a grease stained greeting card written with 2 colors of ink asking me to prom. Dinner was awkward but the “After Prom Party” was where a city girl met a country boy & we became best friends. We laughed, we talked & he played quarters off my nose like we had been hustling people at the dining room table for years!

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

Our favorite memory is quite literally our 1st date. Sure, there were hurdles; I had a boyfriend, John had a 2nd prom date, John’s car died (it hated me), John was quiet (until he wasn’t), whereas I can be loud. John was a country boy & I was a city girl. We barely spoke through dinner and the dance, but when our guard came down & we could just be ourselves, that’s when we realized we were, at the very least, meant to be the best of friends. It was the start of something incredibly special!

What would you do with $20,000?

On May 12, 2030 John & I will be celebrating our 40th Anniversary. We were kids when we got married with all the hope & optimism we could muster. Over the years, life has not been easy, but neither of us would change a thing. Our love has endured the darkest of nights & we have ridden those nights out to find the brightest of days. What would we do with $20k? We would get married all over again. Big white dress, tuxedos, tiered cake, bad 80’s hair, mullets & more fun & love than before!!!
