We don’t love because we’re perfect. Through 32 years of marriage, we’ve never stopped choosing each other.
Help us share our love story in Variety, take home $20,000, and go on a triple date with Jeff & Emilie Goldblum and Charlie Day & Mary Elizabeth Ellis!
Marcus and Kara met in middle school. She walked into the school lunchroom, a gawky seventh-grade girl with braces, and saw Marcus. He was an eighth grader sitting on a speaker in jeans two sizes too small, a cutoff jean jacket, a mullet, and more attitude than one person should have. They locked eyes, and he instantly fell in love with her smile. She thought he was the most amazing thing she'd ever seen. Thirty-two years later, they’re still choosing each other.
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple? After Kara’s second year of college, she took the train to Fayetteville to reconnect with Marcus. He’d gotten leave from the Army. They hadn’t seen each other in a while, but the moment she stepped off the train, the sparks between them reignited like wildfire. They spent the weekend at the beach, driving in his red Land Cruiser with the wind in their hair. Somewhere between the ocean, the laughter, and the open road, they knew. They wanted a life together. They would choose each other.
What would you do with $20,000?Marcus and Kara married at 20 and 21, before they had the money for a honeymoon. Life swept them forward through school, work, children, and all the beautiful chaos of building a life together. If they won, they would finally take the honeymoon they never had: New Zealand. A few days to relax, a little zip-lining adventure, breathtaking scenery, hiking into the wilderness, and a little movie-magic romance. After 32 years, it would be about celebrating the future they continue to choose together.
