We met on Tinder in 2025. Our first video call was unforgettable. Ruscan was sitting in a Safeway parking lot eating chips and salsa while Christopher wondered what kind of man takes a call like that. A month later, Christopher asked if Ruscan could ever see himself married. Ruscan replied, “I’m ready, but I’ll never ask—I don’t like disappointment.” Two days later, Christopher bought two rings and proposed on Tacoma’s Spanish Steps. Ruscan said yes.
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?A few weeks before our wedding, Christopher learned he needed heart surgery. He worried Ruscan had signed up for a husband with unexpected health challenges. Instead, Ruscan simply said, “I married you because you’re my person. I’ll care for you until the end of time.” Through every appointment, surgery, and recovery day, he never wavered. That experience showed us what marriage truly means; not just loving someone at their best, but standing beside them when they need you most.
What would you do with $20,000?We would use the $20,000 to help launch our Adult Family Home, where we can provide compassionate care to seniors who deserve dignity, comfort, and love. Christopher serves students in public education, and Ruscan serves older adults in healthcare. Together, we want to continue that mission by creating a home where residents feel valued, respected, and cared for like family. This opportunity would help us build our dream while serving some of our community’s most vulnerable people.
