How did your love story begin?

We met at 11 in 6th-grade camp in California after the new boy from Texas became my survival-hike partner. I hung up when he asked me to be his girlfriend, then called back and said yes. When he moved back to Texas, he promised to return for my senior prom—and he did. We survived years of long distance, got engaged in college, married, and 36 years later we’re still choosing each other while proudly cheering on our two children at Arkansas and Texas A&M on an army contract!

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

It feels impossible to choose one, but probably when we got to take a big vacation together to Alaska! We opted to go off grid, disconnect completely and stay in yurts and campers. We got to just enjoy each other and all the beautiful wildlife and nature. We’ve never felt more peace. It was a dream.

What would you do with $20,000?

Probably go back to Alaska to chase that peace again …. and help our kids out with their weddings.
