Connect How did your love story begin?

Chris was the barista at the local coffee shop.We had a friendly banter going. I had just broken off an engagement and wasn’t looking to date.My friends had other ideas. I came in one night and he asked me out. I was surprised but said yes. My friends told me that he’d asked about me and told him that I was shy and had a crush. It took us a few weeks to discover this, which embarrassed me and I tried to end things. He told me to “sit down, it’ll be a funny story to tell the grandkids one day”.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

After 27 years together, we have a lot to choose from but our first date holds a special place in our hearts.Chris found out I had been engaged more than once before.He asked why?I said that what’s supposed to happen, you date , he proposes, you say yes, but then I figured out I didn’t really want to marry them and broke it off. He said ok, we’re going to practice. I’m going to propose and you’re going to say no. So he asked in the middle of a diner and I turned him down. On our first date!

What would you do with $20,000?

Chris has battled cancer for the second time recently so as you can imagine, we had a lot of medical bills. This money would help cover that. Radiation, doctors, and hospital bills all add up. We have insurance but as most know, with serious health concerns, it doesn’t cover everything. We’re managing but this would be a great help especially with a teenager in the house that will be going off to college before we know it.
