Connect How did your love story begin?

Our story began 1000 miles apart. Tarah was living in California and Kent was in Colorado. We met through a dating app and nearly scrolled past each other, as a long-distance relationship wasn't on our radars. But we began sending messages and the connection was instant. Within days, we were answering questions that we had never even asked in previous relationships. After a few months, we finally met in California. That first embrace made it all so clear: we had each found our person.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

Kent is a no-coast Coloradan, so Tarah wanted to take him on a trip to the beach. She planned a weekend for us at Seal Beach, complete with seaside sushi! The next day, Tarah surprised Kent with a trip up the coast to the aquarium in Long Beach (Kent loves aquariums). Kent stopped Tarah while they were in the seal exhibit, tearing up, telling her no one had been done anything like this for him. We still both hold that trip close to our hearts, even returning to Long Beach for our honeymoon!

What would you do with $20,000?

The first thing we would do is book a nice weekend together! We've been through a difficult few years, so we definitely deserve a little treat. The next thing we would love to do is get Tarah a power assist for her wheelchair, something that would allow us to walk side-by-side, hand-in-hand. Whatever is remaining would be used towards a down payment on a house. Starting that chapter in our lives is something we've been dreaming about for years.
