Connect How did your love story begin?

I asked my boss when he met his wife; he said it was when he was 28. Being 27, I looked up to the ceiling and said: "God, you'll have to bring him to me. I'm not doing this anymore!" The next day, Tanner came into my office, and my friend introduced him as the new captain. I assumed a good looking military man had a wife and kids so I said "look pretty boy sit down and be quiet while I talk to my friend". Afterward, he asked my friend if I was single. The next week we went on on our first date.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

On our first date, we both were trying to play it cool. But kept asking each other to do another activity. He was a southern gentleman and was paying for everything. So when dinner came around, I said I'd pay, and he refused. I said, Ok, I'll just be a moment. I'm going to the bathroom, and went to the hostess to pay for our meal. When I got back, he was shocked. He told me the next day he called his best friend and said: "SHE PAID FOR DINNER". Now I get to make him dinner every night.

What would you do with $20,000?

We would put half away for our kids' college funds and use the other half to take them on some memorable vacations! We celebrate our wedding anniversary as a "family birthday". I want to create as many memories of what a healthy love looks like for our kids so they know what is healthy and what is not and can navigate that on their own when they grow up, with us always around to fall back on, of course!
