Connect How did your love story begin?

Our love story began in Pittsburgh, PA during the beginning of my junior year of college. We met at a house party hosted by my friend who lived in my apartment building. It was co-hosted with someone Shua was friends with. He approached me at the party and we got to know eachother a bit. My friend group and I decided to leave to get food, and I almost left the party without getting his number. I went back to grab a jacket I forgot & got his number.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

My favorite memory with Shua was our trip to Puerto Rico for my cousin's wedding. As a Puerto rican, my culture is very important to me. Seeing him get along with my extended family and fully participate in the food, culture and dancing left me feeling so elated to have him as my partner. He thoroughly enjoyed himself with my family, and since family is very important to me, it secured in my mind even more how well we compliment each other as a couple.

What would you do with $20,000?

With $20,000, I could finance my opera career without having to rely on others as much as I do now, or start paying off my student loans. The reason we can't get married is because I am still financially dependent on my family because of my opera career being unstable and he is still in school finishing his Music Technology degree. We can't afford to live independently together, let alone afford a wedding. Whatever steps will best ensure our financial independence as a couple we will take.
