Connect How did your love story begin?

*Note-Zee is invisibly disabled. We met in 2022 on DISCORD! Zee had launched a social video app for artists to help people find community during the loneliness of pandemic lockdowns, & Shane, a full time musician & producer, showed up to one of the artist meetings she was hosting. What started as a creative gathering turned into something neither of us expected. Music & Medicine brought us into the same room. Months later we finally met in person & it felt like we already knew each other <3

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

Our favorite memory is our wedding. Zee arrived by boat, but the boat got stuck in the sand before it reached shore. Everyone was sitting on the beach watching, waiting for her to come down the aisle; she was on the edge of a full panic. Shane knew immediately! He threw off his shoes, walked straight into the water, picked her up off the boat, & carried her to the beach and toward the altar. A lot of people cried at this moment. It was extremely emotional and truly a highlight. We have videos :)

What would you do with $20,000?

We would use $20,000 to support our initiatives around mental health, disability, and neurodiverse families. Our dream is to open a nonprofit that helps disabled families access free healthcare, education, and support. It would also help fund research on disability, neurodivergence, relationships, and healing. As Zee pivots her career toward becoming a full time disability researcher and advocate, this funding would help us build the foundation for grants, community programs, & long term impact.
