Connect How did your love story begin?

We met through mutual friends and family. My mom knew his family and I (Katie) worked at Sergio’s parent’s restaurant. We knew each other for a year before we connected. He would bring me coffee from my favorite place during his lunch. I started looking forward to him coming in, making a little extra effort every morning to look nice. I would also ask to take my break at the same time so we could talk; then soon he asked me to go to a movie with him after work. We’ve been inseparable ever since.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

We went to Utah to visit Sergio’s brother and sister in law for his birthday. His parents came with us and we spent a really nice road trip together. It was super fun. We made little stops along the way to sightsee and eat at local restaurants. We played laser tag, mini golf, bowling, and spent the best time cooking with his family. I loved connecting with everyone and he loved that I celebrated with his family for his birthday. We also played a murder mystery game; it was hilarious.

What would you do with $20,000?

We would pay off our debt. Sergio was off of work for a few months due to an injury. We fell into a bit of credit card debt. We would secure our financial situation, including paying off his car, and then we would spend the rest to take a very nice vacation. Go to hidden gems in Arizona and try out all of the best kayaking places. We love hiking and the beauty of the desert. We’ve lived in Arizona most of our lives and still have so much to see. Making precious memories and enjoying nature.
