We were high school sweethearts and have been through many challenges, but refused to give up. We believe that love is worth fighting for.
We would like to thank you for supporting Rick and Pat in this year's competition. Your participation allows us to aid both the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and Oceana in their respective missions to support hunger relief and ocean conservation.
Met in high school study hall. He was the cutest thing ever. He shared a stick of gum with me, and joked that 1 day he'd look for the person who had the other 1/2 wrapper. What a line, right? Went on our first date later that week. It was love at first sight, and 6 months later, we realized we both still had the gum wrapper halves. Got them laminated. Married right after graduation. 50 years later, still in love and still have the gum wrappers. Celebrating our golden anniversary this year. ❤
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple? There are so many in 50 years. Our first date was memorable. He was late picking me up, because he had to chase some dogs that escaped his yard. This was way before cell phones, and I thought he wasn't going to show, but he did. We went to a football game and had our first kiss on the bleachers and another right before getting in the car. I was smitten and still am today.
What would you do with $20,000?Would love to visit Japan, where I was born. My Japanese mother, who is 95, left there with my dad shortly after I was born (1958) and never returned. She was 26 when she left.
