How did your love story begin?

Our story began in 1964 right after the Alaska earthquake. Randy’s family moved to Newport Washington and my family moved from New York to Newport the same year. We lived at Diamond Lake and Randy was a skinny drink of water kid that my mom thought was starving to death. We became best friends over the years, working the hay fields together, fishing, shoveled snow and rodeos, to earn money while going to school. We have been best friends since the 6th grade.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

My husband and I lived aboard a 50 foot Trimaran, the Sitara, during the summers, care-took a wilderness lodge in Alaska- for the winter, and in the Autumn of our years 3 children came to live with us, become adopted and so much a part of our lives, then we traveled to Dutch Harbor, Alaska for a new life and job and all of this happened in the company of Newfoundland dogs!

What would you do with $20,000?

Our 3 kids parents got involved in drugs, mom died and later their dad died, leaving them orphans, the state was going to foster them out separately since they said it was too hard to try to keep siblings together but as their great uncle and aunt we had to keep that from happening since in our minds they had lost enough. We fostered then adopted them. Years later we continue to be there for them as they struggle to survive in todays economy. Being Retired , extra $ will help us help others.
