How did your love story begin?

Most couples meet at coffee shops or on dating apps, but our story started in the gritty, unfiltered world of an after-hours cop bar. Working in public safety means living on a completely different clock than the rest of the world. Finding someone who truly understands the raw reality, the dark humor, and the exhausting shifts of this life is rare—but that night, we found it in each other.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

It's hard to choose just one memory. From our engagement under Niagara Falls, the wedding at the yacht club people still talk about, and our honeymoon in Hawaii, to the birth of our two children and watching them grow into adulthood. The arrival of our grandchild began a wonderful new chapter.Through all these milestones, our favorite moments may be the simplest—sharing morning coffee on the deck, talking and still making each other laugh, enjoying each other's company for over 35 million years.

What would you do with $20,000?

With retirement from public service after 47 years right around the corner, the money would be used to create additional family memories, because so many times were missed out on due to working the holidays and weekends when others had time off, yet those of us in public service did not. Retirement and this prize would finally let us catch up on all the years of missed time together.
