I was a high school senior, Paula was a sophomore. One day in the school hallway, she accidentally stepped on the back of my shoe. I stumbled forward, turned around ready to say, “Be careful!” and instantly forgot what I was going to say when our eyes met. The moment I saw her, I fell much harder than I almost really had. My friend Johnny laughed, “Come on, she’s a sophomore.” I replied, “I’m going to marry her!”
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?55 years of marriage, following dating for 5 years, brings many beautiful memories, daily. Every day gifts us more joyful memories. Sharing moments of sensitivity, cheers, consolation, celebration, all create braids of love and favored thoughts. The births of our sons, and of their children, and their children’s children, clearly top our most favorite shared and precious memories.
What would you do with $20,000?We’d celebrate being recognized as a “favorite couple” by sharing our $$$ award with our children. I’d consider using some of the prize for writing a book on how marriages can thrive by walking together in faith, kindness and love. My career in marital therapy serves as a base for this. We'd travel and enjoy good times with friends and family. WOW!
