I was a poetry slam performer, & he was a hip-hop artist. We worked in the same restaurant, but the staff told him that I was scorned & uninterested in men, not even to try. Determined, he turned one of his rap songs into a poem & competed against me in my own show. He won! Knowing that he had to work early the next morning but lived quite a ways away, I offered for him to sleep at my studio apartment that night under strict conditions, “Don’t touch me”, & he honored my request. Not even a kiss.
