Connect How did your love story begin?

I got a job at a prison and my shift changed to midnights and I accidently missed my first midnight shift. My husband was the one to call and let me know. I met him the next night during roll call. He later told me he thought I looked like an Angel the way the light hit my blonde hair and looked like a halo. I'm country, he's rock, I'm Chiefs, he's Raiders (almost a dealbreaker), he's loud Mustang, I'm quiet Kia yet together we work. We have built a family, a home, and a haven for rescue Parrots

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

Other than the birth of our son, I think our favorite memory would be riding the Sky Coaster at Fun Town in Kissimmee, FL soon after we met. We were both scared to death to get on it and required a little liquid courage first. I made Steve get on the side where the release cord was because I knew I would be too afraid to pull it. We faced our fear together and have been facing them together ever since.

What would you do with $20,000?

We have 27 parrots, most of which are from rescue situations and were difficult to find homes for, for various reasons. Our friend who ran the local rescue recently passed away from terminal blood cancer. We joke that we took in all the "bad birds". We would like to build an addition to the house or convert the garage into a space that would provide a lot more natural light for them and provide more opportunities for "out of cage" time.
