Connect How did your love story begin?

We met while volunteering with the Red Cross after Hurricane Katrina in October of 2005. By happenstance, we ended up at the same shelter in Slidell, LA The last place we thought we’d find love. To this day, I remember the first moment I saw her. Her back was to me, and she was wearing jeans and a light blue t-shirt. We quickly became friends. When she returned home, I didn't get the chance to say goodbye. But fate found a way for us to connect again.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

In 2006, I flew back to my hometown of St Paul MN to do 2 things. Go to the MN State Fair, and to introduce Michelle to my mom. Michelle was living in Iowa at the time. We enjoyed a live performance of "A Prairie Home Companion." At the end of the concert, it was tradition to play/sing the National Anthem. When the words "And the home of the brave." passed, I notice the look that said kiss me from her. As I finally did, we both saw fireworks. Literal fireworks. Our timing was uncanny.

What would you do with $20,000?

I know there are things I should do with the money. Bills. Home repairs. Build up my small business. But, we both hit the lottery when it came to our in-laws. We'd love to take them to see places Noel saw in the late 1960's during his 2 tours with the Navy. They truly deserve the trip. Michelle and I would be there to make sure the important moments are captured.
