Our love story began on the Fourth of July weekend 1994. We spent it with a group of church friends in Mexico and were closing out the holiday watching fireworks. We remember talking through the whole fireworks display but not seeing much of the show. While walking back towards our friend’s house, I had a feeling we would share a future. I don’t know what she saw in this RN college student,but I saw a gorgeous, intelligent woman full of wisdom. After our first date, I knew I wanted to marry her.

We’ve traveled all over the USA and internationally, too, and have a lot of great memories. But our favorite memory is when Letty gave birth to our first child. As most labors go, it was a long, painful experience. Of course she remembers the pain more than I do, but the beauty of seeing a child given to us by God is completely indescribable! Our son is now 29 years old, smart, and strong as an ox! He got her brains and my body.

We celebrated our 30th anniversary though we lived 1,600 miles apart. After our son had left to start his own life, we slowly unraveled. Last year we separated, but when we decided we still loved each other, we chose to reconcile. Love is a choice. With the prize, we could renovate our beautiful, historic old house.
