We met and dated when he was recently discharged from the US Air Force and freshly divorced, and she had just finished college and was ready to start a family. We were in different places in life and went our own ways. Nearly two decades later, we reconnected. Both were working through the ends of our respective relationships and refound fast friendship that soon became much, much more.
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?Our wedding. A small affair, really ourselves and our children, with a few guests, held in an old bank-become-jazz club downtown. We decorated the place ourselves. The kids pitched in to help make seashell-filled fairy light jars, which sat atop fishers nets on vine-strewn tables. He wore a linen shirt and she a dress the color of a Bermuda sky. The sounds of cello and piano swelled to fill the place, and the night was truly made of magic.
What would you do with $20,000?We would take a trip. We were able to have a honeymoon, but not the one we wanted. We wed in the midst of the COVID outbreak, and a lot of travel had halted. Since then, we've incurred a lot of expenses that have curtailed our ability to travel freely, and this prize would be used for that. We would take an island tour, which would have been a perfect honeymoon for us. That would bring up memories of our wedding all over again, letting us relive our best moment.
