Connect How did your love story begin?

I was playing drums in a Sacramento band called The Bicycle Rider when my bass player convinced me to go to a house party. The moment I walked in, I saw the host, Athena, and was completely awestruck. I had no idea that night would change the course of my life. Eight months later, we ran to the courthouse and got married. Nearly 20 years later, we’re still best friends and would choose each other over and over in a heartbeat, and somehow, our love story just keeps getting better.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

It’s impossible to choose just one. Holding each of our four children for the first time and realizing our love had created this family is something we’ll never forget. Since then, we’ve worked hard to make memories together, especially our family trips to Disney. The best memory isn’t really one moment, it’s the life and family we’ve built together.

What would you do with $20,000?

We’d probably take our four kids on an unforgettable Disney World vacation and make some memories we’d talk about for the rest of our lives. Anything left over would go toward a few projects around the house. After nearly 20 years together, we’ve learned that the best thing we can spend money on is making memories with the ones we love.
