We fell in love at 1st sight on a blind date at Disneyland. Thru cancer, we’ve stayed best friends, seeing that twinkle in each others eyes
We would like to thank you for supporting Mark & Katie in this year's competition. Your participation allows us to aid both the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and Oceana in their respective missions to support hunger relief and ocean conservation.
Mutual friends invited us to join them at Disneyland for what turned out to be a real blind date. We met on Main Street, and by the end of the day we’d ridden Space Mountain together. The next two weeks were a whirlwind roller coaster—we got engaged after spending just 41 hours together and chose a six-month engagement to truly get to know each other.
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple? One of our most cherished memories is our hot air balloon ride—the peaceful yet exhilarating feeling of gently lifting off and gliding silently over fragrant orange orchards that smelled heavenly. Other treasured moments include the births of our five children and the joyful day Katie’s port was removed, marking the end of her cancer treatment. She is a remarkable stage 4 metastatic cancer survivor.
What would you do with $20,000?Since we are completely debt-free, we have the freedom to use this money to support our family in truly meaningful ways. We could help our youngest daughter and her family after losing everything in a house fire. Also we could support our oldest son in launching his own plumbing business. Closer to home, creating a beautiful backyard oasis—with a fun playground for the kids, a spacious patio with comfortable seating, a cozy fire pit for family gatherings, and lush gardens—would be truly special.
