How did your love story begin?

We are from two different worlds. Maritza from Sonora, Mexico and Gilbert a US Veteran from Ventura, California. We found true love on our first date at a family gathering on a balcony overseeing the scenery of Mexico city. It was a birthday party invited by the twin sister of Maritza, i was introduced to Gilbert by his brother and sister in law. At that point, it was the moment of truth. We shared our childhood memories together. The night was a full moon and beautiful evening night sky.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

Our trip to Honolulu, Hawaii. From our wedding day to our couples retreat. We explored the historical views of the Hawaiian Islands and enjoyed the beauty of the native island it offered. Pearl Harbor was the most memorable place as a US Naval veteran, it felt sentimental. The Blue skies and the clear waterfront was a unforgettable. The evening gave us bright shining stars and the sounds of the ocean made it even more memorable. Walking on the beach and holding hands made the entire trip.

What would you do with $20,000?

We will help the family living in Mexico, as it has been hard times for family. We will also start a College fund towards our son Caleb. Caleb is 14 years of age and will be attending High School. $10,000 will go towards family and $10,000 towards Caleb's College fund. Helping others gives us hope that life can be more precious towards one another. Money can be able to expand goals and achieve a dream. However, a mindset is valid throughout the entire lifestyle as how one wants to live.
