Connect How did your love story begin?

We both trialed for the same line cook position on the same day, and they ended up accepting us both for the job. Kevin fell for me immediately but I saw him as competition until one day we touched hands while working and we’ve been together ever since! We both ended up leaving the job and supported each other through career changes - now I’m a teacher and Kevin is a chocolatier! But we both still love to cook together at home, and I use his chocolates to bake cookies for my students!

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

Our favorite memory was when I took Kevin to Maine for the first time. I grew up in Maine while Kevin grew up in the Bronx. I took him out on a boat I barely knew how to drive to my parent’s cabin on the ocean. We got there and stayed up all night trying to teach ourselves how to fish and how to recognize constellations. We were both pretty out of our element and a bit scared to be so far from civilization but it brought us closer and now we love to fish together!

What would you do with $20,000?

If we won $20,000 we would rent a trailer and bring Kevin’s whole family to Maine so our families can meet and Kevin’s mom, brother, and daughter could all learn to fish! And then hopefully Kevin will finally propose! We’ve been together 4 years and haven’t been able to get our families together yet so it would mean so much to us to see them finally meet. Kevin’s family has also never been out of the city so it would be extra exciting to get them camping out on the ocean too!
