Connect How did your love story begin?

Once upon a time, Ion and I were merely background characters in each other’s stories, acquaintances in a mutual gaming club. Then he moved to the Pacific Northwest and, on a whim, gave me a call. We clicked instantly—laughing, debating, sharing and dreaming up impossible ideas. It started as a simple outing and as far as far as we are concerned that first outing is a zany adventure that is still ongoing.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

Our favorite memory is the great adventure that carried us across America, from the Big Apple to the Emerald City. Along the way, we stayed at the Enchanted Castle in Regent, North Dakota, exploring the legendary Enchanted Highway in search of geocaches. At the Tin Family sculpture, a surprise was waiting for us: a tiny feral kitten who wandered out of the prairie and into our hearts. What began as a road trip became a reminder that the most magical adventures are the ones you never see coming.

What would you do with $20,000?

If we won $20,000, we would finally fly a silver dragon and travel to the Caherurlagh Holed Stone in County Cork, Ireland, where Ion’s family traces its roots. We’ve dreamed of standing together at the ancient stone, reaching our hands through it, touching fingertips, and being handfasted in one of the oldest, most magical ways imaginable. It's deeply romantic to join hands through a stone that has witnessed centuries of love and sharing that moment has long been one of our longest held wishes.
