Connect How did your love story begin?

We met at her wedding in 2012 (my now ex-wife was friends with her now ex-husband). We're sober now, but back I was drunk and couldn't even remember what Lauren, the bride, looked like. Over the years, we connected online, emailed each other writing projects for feedback, but we were platonic. We didn’t actually meet in person until the day she got divorced. I happened to be in NYC for work, we went out for dinner and an inaccurate psychic reading.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

It's impossible to choose just one memory and call it "our favorite" but we both cherish the memory of our first phone call. How the sound of her voice melted me. How she didn't want to hang up. And I remember in that moment the feeling in my gut saying: this is going to be the love of your life. (the sound of her voice still melts me, tbh)

What would you do with $20,000?

Groceries and new shoes for our kids. We’re artists so $20k would be life changing for our family. We're still trying to get back on our feet after our respective divorces, businesses closing, multiple cross country moves, etc. We're freelance because it's flexible for our kids (x3), but work is slow, and every day is a battle. No savings, no credit cards, and no complaints either, we're the luckiest people on earth, but 20k would buy us peace of mind so our kids would never know our struggle.
