Connect How did your love story begin?

We didn’t find each other in a foreign land or Barnes and Noble. Not the stuff of Hallmark movies. We met online. (Sigh). Our first date was over quesadillas and Benedict. We already knew about our physical limitations. It was down to how we got this way and how we navigated the world. Dennis an engineer with ironed Jeans and crisp button down. I was a teacher and tried to make Good Will look good. By the end of the afternoon it felt less like a date and more like reconnecting with a good friend

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

On a chilly Miami Valentine’s Day, Dennis insisted on a table by the ocean. We arrived bundled up carrying shopping bags, the moon reflecting off the tide pool. “Open mine first, he said. The bag held a stuffed elephant, around its neck hung a diamond ring on a ribbon. I flashed it at the server. “He wants to marry me,”I squealed. Sheepishly I handed Dennis his gift. “ “A nose hair trimmer. “It’s perfect honey,” he grinned. We realized later he never proposed. It didn’t matter.

What would you do with $20,000?

That’s tough. There are so much need in this country and the world. We would definitely donate the majority of the money to our two favorite charities. World Cental Kitchen and St. Jude, with a little left over to buy the grands some books to get their eyes away from screens.
