How did your love story begin?

We met at work. On Jay’s second day sent to work in my department of GM car factory. I would visit him in his regular dept. during my breaks so he wouldn’t feel alone. Then we worked in same dept. We gained the same friends and did things outside of work We stayed friends until it blossomed into more. We moved in together and soon a proposal and the following year bought a house. Year after, we got married. Year 25 mortgage paid. 29 years married. What a roller coaster ride! Goodness.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

As we aged and my body went through “the change” I became sick and spent a lot of time in the hospital and diagnosed with chronic illness with no cure or medicine or surgery. I live with low energy and dangerously low sodium due to a pinched pituitary. Jay has been my rock, my support and always by my side. While in hospital, he came to visit during his lunch break every day. After work and feeding our parrots, he would spend most of the evenings at bedside. Never complaining, never tiring.

What would you do with $20,000?

We would replace our thread bare carpet in the dining room living room and stairs area that came with the house 31 years ago. We would fix up our den that has original dirty wallpaper on the walls from 31 years ago. Life tossed us around with many hardships that destroyed our savings and priorities had to be met to stay afloat. If there is any money left over from that I would want to suprise Jay with a trip to Scotland to go to St. Andrew’s golf course. A longtime wish of his.
