Connect How did your love story begin?

We had known each other for years before actually getting together. We met as camp counselors for our county’s 4-H camp. We went our separate ways for a few years until we reconnected at the county fair. Kody had asked Taryn to come hang out in the campground with him and his buddies. We hit it off instantly like no time had passed since we had last talked. Two days later it became official when Taryn introduced Kody as her boyfriend to her Family. Kody didn’t object a little bit.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

Our favorite memory is the night we slipped away to a quiet lake around midnight. We walked onto the pier, then sat on a rock listening to the water and the sounds of nature beneath a sky full of stars. We hardly spoke for nearly an hour, just enjoying the peaceful silence together. Then Kody looked at Taryn and asked, “So, do you want to do this forever with me?” She smiled and said, “Yes.” It was simple, intimate, and completely ours.

What would you do with $20,000?

We would put the $20,000 toward a down payment on a small farm where we can grow our beef cattle herd and raise our future children. We want our kids to learn the value of hard work, responsibility, faith, compassion, and caring for God’s creation. Owning a farm would be more than buying land. It would be the foundation of our family’s legacy, giving us a place to build a life, create memories, and pass our values on for generations.
