How did your love story begin?

We met in a nightclub in Madrid Spain in 1990. We saw each other from across the room, I told my roommate, see that guy over there? I will marry him. And... I did. We met, we fell madly in love. Henrik is from Denmark and I am from the United States, we had to go through a lot to get permission from the Danish and US government to get married. We were poor, lived in youth hostiles trying to earn money as fashion models. Today, we have been married 34 years, 2 grown sons, and a granddaughter.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

There are so many favorites! Here is what stands out, Henrik proposed to me on the Pont de I'Archeveche' Bridge in front of the Notre Dame de Paris Cathedral. He had a 10 carat gold band for me, he got down on one knee to propose, I felt like we were the only people in the universe, it was magical. We had no money to speak of, really, but we had each other, hopes, dreams, and lots of love and respect. Out of all the decisions we have made saying yes to each other was the very best one.

What would you do with $20,000?

We have dreamed of taking a Viking Cruise up the Danube River, we love exploring and seeing new things together. Travel has been a big part of our life being from two different continents. We have mostly only traveled with our kids and still do, we are grateful they want to travel with us, but a romantic cruise focused on just Henrik and me would be a blessing and one we would welcome.
