Connect How did your love story begin?

Our story began when we were 16 years old in a small town in Maryland. Keith was new to the area, and we quickly became best friends. After a first date overlooking the Naval Academy, we never left each other’s side. Falling in love was easy, but our journey wasn’t. As an interracial couple in a small town, we faced challenges and judgment that tested us from an early age. Those experiences could have driven us apart, but instead they strengthened our bond and taught us to choose each other.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

One of our most meaningful shared memories was leaving home together with everything we owned packed into our old cars as Keith headed to his first military assignment. We were young, far from everything familiar, and suddenly realized we were all we had to rely on. It was both exciting and intimidating, but it taught us that home wasn’t a place—it was wherever we were together. From that moment on, we faced every challenge as a team, and that experience became the foundation of our life.

What would you do with $20,000?

We’d invest into building a business together—something that creates lasting opportunities for our family. Throughout our marriage, we’ve always believed the greatest investment isn’t in things, but in building something side by side. This would give us the chance to turn our shared vision into something meaningful, and leave a legacy our children can be proud of. For us, it’s not just about growing a business—it’s about continuing to build a life together.
