We became friends in high school when we were 14. After graduation, Kathy went to college, and David joined the Air Force, but chance encounters kept bringing us back together. David was the first to realize there could be more to our friendship. During a camping trip to Kentucky Lake, Kathy began feeling the same way. We were engaged soon afterward, married about a year later, and have been in love for more than 46 years.
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?We've shared a lifetime of special memories—from raising our children, grandsons, and now a great-grandson, to building homes, starting businesses, and visiting all 50 states and more than 30 countries together. Every milestone has become a treasured memory. But our favorite memory isn't just one moment—it's that we've always supported each other's dreams and continue creating new ones together.
What would you do with $20,000?Our third grandson became a first-time father in January, and we'd love to help ease some of the financial demands of parenthood. We also want to support our second grandson and our hānai (honorary) granddaughter as they pursue their master's degrees. We'd share the $20,000 among them to help build their futures.
